Eliza was fantastic. The dishes are appropriately balanced, and the flavors are both Cajun and New American. We got the crawfish crepe, paneed fish and crab cakes (and dessert). Service was exceptional - Madison helped us pick dishes that were both heavy and light, seasonal and frequent favorites. As a traveler only in town for a night, it was exactly what I needed. 180 after tax and gratuity for 2 people.

The crab dip appetizer was incredible and the entrees we got were good, but the gumbo was not good. The service was great, as was the atmosphere. Would recommend coming here and I will likely come back, but I wish the food was more consistently great throughout the menu.

So romantic and delicious food. Husband had the shrimp and grits. I had the thick pork chop with maple glaze on grits and collard greens. We each ordered a biscuit too. The food was incredible and locally sourced. We tried risotto and collard greens for the first time because we trusted the chef and the quality of the ingredients. The only negative is the place is very small. It is quite cozy.

We sat outdoors for our business lunch under perfect weather. Food and service were excellent! My coworker had to change our reservation multiple times due to some unexpected changes and the hostess was very understanding and accommodating. One of my favorite places in Baton Rouge and a must return. I had the fried seafood dish, by far the best fried seafood batch I have had anywhere in a long time! Fried oysters was done perfectly. The light batter was just the perfect amount with enough crunch and flavor. Will definitely return when I am back in Baton Rouge!

11-20-23 Lafayette/Opelousas residents came out to try this spot because we were in the area. We came around 12:30. There was no wait. Our waitress Madison was really awesome. The food? It is what EVERY GREAT REVIEWS states of it! We tried 2 appetizers; both 5/5! 1. Fried eggplant 2. Fried catfish Our entrees were very yummy, too! I just wish that I had ordered the chicken fricassee!! 1. 5/5 Chicken fricassee had a very savory, well-seasoned, prepared with love taste. 2. Fish paneered meal was tasty! There were fried cubed potatoes, but this dish would have been so much better with mashed potatoes or scalloped potatoes! It also came with brussel sprouts! 3. Carrot cake: this was the best carrot cake mini loaf I have ever tried. 5/5 Great icing, too!!!

One of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at in the south. The crab cakes and gumbo are to die for. Don’t sleep on the pimento cheese balls either. The service and atmosphere are great. Yummy cocktails.

Absolutely love eating at Russell's place! I wish I could go more often. Tried this fish sandwich for the first time last week and was not disappointed. Crispy fillet, perfect bun, fresh tomato and arugula and of course the sauce gribiche was made perfectly. Thanks again Russell! Reel coming soon on Instagram @ GeauxBatonRouge Dave

What a diamond in the rough. Charming, quaint, adorable outdoors patio area, and a crisp, clean, chic interior. I was genuinely surprised by the elevated Louisiana Cuisine presented here. I was impressed with their commitment to support local Louisiana businesses and even shout then out on the menu as their local sources. The waitress was polite and exceedingly knowledgeable about the menu. She also told us about a Mardi Gras themed cocktail available. Though I don't drink, it sounded like something that would be enjoyable to others. She also told us about the soup and dish of the day, both of which sounded phenomenal, but I had already made up my mind. The catfish was actually catfish (which, as you may know some businesses use tilapia or other cheap fish instead). It had one of the best shells I have tried. I had mine with lemon wedges and some stone ground horse radish infused mustard which somehow improved on what I already believed to be perfection. The gumbo only gets 4 stars from me. It was flavorful, and the popcorn rice was a nice addition, but I felt the ratio of rice to gumbo was a bit much and that I didn't really get much chicken or sausage.
